Life can be so simple when you’re single. You can do whatever you want to do and work however you want to work. In a way, it’s like living the high life. Unfortunately, we’re not genetically designed for that (maybe some are, or at least some choose to be that way!). There’s a purpose we all are drawn to after we’re set in the world, job, status, and home–a single ideal that can complete us better than any flat-screen, DVD, water bed, or any other material possession. In fact, what we all long for lasts much longer than what money can buy:
Starting a Family.
Yes, it’s a frightening thought, but inevitable. Sooner or later, you want to continue your legacy, because the fact is, you’re not getting any younger. You want the satisfaction and joy of falling in love, sharing life with a companion, and ultimately having children. You want a family, right? Just know this–
Life will change drastically once that happens. You have to be prepared for that.
With the inclusion of children, more budget-necessary items will get added onto your list that you might not anticipate such as toys, movies, electronics, and trips or outings as a family. It’s no longer a ‘Me’ mentality. It’s now about ‘Us’. So be sure to consider the extra expenses with adding more bodies into the home.
Secondly, a larger square footage would be necessary, too. Your children will need their own rooms. A 1-bedroom isn’t going to cut it. Not to mention that probably for the first time in your life you’ll want to design a will. Think ‘legacy’. Once you leave the world, you want to make sure your assets go to the correct people! Furthermore, acquiring decent insurance quotes to establish more extensive family insurance instead of independent insurance for one person is crucial.
Remember: it’s not just you anymore, so make sure you take the necessary steps.
