Far too many women who have a child or two use that child as an excuse to never work out. After all, they reason, isn’t “chasing” the child all of the time a good enough workout that they never need to really do anything else? While some mothers do have to run after their kids from time to time, that is nowhere near enough to keep you in good shape. And the consequences of being out of shape can become pretty dire down the line. So why even get to that point in life, when you can let your kids help you get into better shape than you were ever in before you had them? Never use your child as an excuse to let your body go downhill.
For one thing, your child can be used as extra weight when you do things such as pushups and situps. If you ask your three your old to sit down on your back, they will most likely do so. That can make a set of pushups go from being slightly difficult to being a hardcore set that you will never forget. The thing is, if you do these things with your kids, you will eventually get used to doing them with the extra weight of the child. As they grow, you can even grow stronger still through the additional weight that they put on you.
As well, when you go walking or running (or do squats), you can either hold your kids or have them hold onto you (depending on how much of a “climber” your child might be), as an extra bit of resistance. If you do this, your bones and muscles are going to become harder, which will make you into a hot momma and show your kids a good example. It will also keep you healthy, instead of just gaining a bunch of useless fat and losing all of the tone in your muscles.
