How to Develop a Close Relationship With Your Siblings

Are you tired of experiencing sibling rivalry? Do you want to be close to your siblings? While it’s easy to bicker and quarrel with our brothers and sisters, it’s much more rewarding to develop a close relationship with them. But what’s the best way to get along well with your siblings? How do you develop a strong bond? There are several steps that you can take to help develop a close relationship with your siblings.

First, try to find common interests that you and your siblings share. Do you all enjoy the outdoors? Go hiking, ride bikes, or plan a fun camping trip. Is shopping your thing? Hit the mall together. Do you all like sports? Purchase tickets for a baseball, basketball, or football game.

Nothing in common with your siblings? Bond over family memories. Look at old photos and watch old videos together. You can laugh about the time Aunt Judy forgot to take Thanksgiving dinner out of the oven in time and served frozen pizza instead. Tease each other about the silly haircuts and outfits you had when you were younger. Giggle about how Uncle Joe always falls asleep at the dinner table.

Do you lack family memories? If your family isn’t close, explain to your siblings that you’d like to create some memories together. If you have kids, plan fun family outings with your siblings and their children- trips to the zoo or local parks. If you don’t have kids, visit museums and bookstores together. Developing a close relationship with your siblings takes time, but it is well worth the effort.
