As many child psychologists know, quality attention from parents can help cultivate a well-rounded child. Because of work, it may be difficult to spend time with your child. However, with enough effort, it’s possible. Even if you have a few moments with your child, you can make them quality moments where your child can gain the most benefits. Learn how you can best spend time with your child, despite a tough work schedule.

Parents Schedule
Outline your schedule and your partner’s daily and weekly schedules. If you are a single parent, simply work on your own schedule. By understanding your current work schedule, you can take note of the times you have available for your children. If you notice there isn’t the amount of space you desire on your schedule for your children, then you may want to consider altering your work schedule to fit the needs of your children.

Your Kids’ Schedule
Write up your kids’ daily and weekly schedules. Figure out the gaps that intersect with your schedule. Are your children receiving the parental attention that you’d like or are they spending a lot of time at day care or with the nanny? If you have a spouse or an ex-spouse, how can you coordinate with them to provide your children with the attention that they need?

Create a Game Plan
With the time that you have available, how do you want to spend it? For example, if you’ve got the time to spend with your kids after school, do you want to spend half-an-hour discussing their day at school? Think about ways you can make the most of your time. For example, you can maximize on your time and combine your discussion about school with eating a healthy snack. With a little smart planning, you and your child can benefit and find more time to spend with one another.
