I spoke to a friend the other day on the phone. We had not spoken or seen each other for many months and it was great catching up with her. We used to hang out all the time up until she started seeing a man she met online. At first their relationship was a long-distance one. After trying this for a while, she finally decided to move in with him. The only thing was that he lived in Canada and she lived in the United States. At first when she moved in when him everything went okay. But then I guess the relationship soured. She decided to move out after just a couple of weeks but did not want to leave the country just yet. So there she was in a new country, knowing no one and starting a new life from scratch.
For those of us who know what it is like when you move somewhere and know no one and not much about your new location; well, we know that is tough. She had a hard time as well. She had to find a new job. She had to find a new place to live. She did not even know where to go to get a decent, inexpensive meal. Lucky for her, while having coffee in a local coffee shop close to her hotel, she struck up a conversation with one of the employees in the shop. That is where she told me about discovering Canada 411. That website was a lifesaver for her. She found herself a nice apartment by searching the site. She told me that she also found two new places to eat just around the corner from her apartment. And after spending so much time eating breakfast there, she got to know the owner who offered her a job. Now it seems like she has gotten over the toughest times from her move to Canada and is doing great. We even talked about when I could visit. It was great to hear from her again.
