The Key to Taming Chaos for Working Parents

The Key to Taming Chaos for Working Parents

Working parents have a number of challenges to contend with on a daily basis. Between work, school, homework, and dinner, there is little time or energy for anything else. Add extracurricular activities or unplanned events to this mix, and chaos can become the rule instead of the exception. Therefore, it is imperative that working parents get and stay organized in order to have a peaceful and happy home.

One of the most stressful times for working parents is in the mornings, when they are trying to get ready for work while getting their children ready for school. Parents who get everything ready the night before, including clothes, lunches, homework, and whatever they need for work will have a much easier time in the mornings.

Parents who work all day and then have to go home and prepare dinner will have a much easier time of it if they plan ahead. Instead of having to stop by the store to pick up something to cook for dinner, try to do all of your shopping on the weekends. Plan menus so that much of the work can be done ahead of time, yet you can still serve a nutritious and delicious meal without having to stay in the kitchen all evening.

It takes time and a lot of effort to get and stay this organized. However, once you have one area of your life organized, it will be easier to deal with the others. For example, if kids have a regular time and place in which to do their homework, you won’t have to worry about finding out later that your child has fallen behind. If you get into the habit of signing school papers at night, you won’t have to worry about last minute permission slips in the morning. Choose one area at a time and get organized. You will be amazed at the difference.
